Employment Contract
During the last quarter of the 20th
century, the 'loyalty contract' between employers and employees
significantly weakened. A new employment contract is emerging in
response to the increasingly competitive, entrepreneurial, and
change-focused business environment of the 21st century. Using an
interactive format, this program will introduce you to the
recruiting and interviewing techniques that lead to success within
this new economic framework.

SPEAKER BIOS
Roy
Johnson
Motivational Speaker - Training Consultant (Conway, Arkansas)
Roy Johnson is a Staff Development Specialist with
the Conway Human Development Center, DHS. He has been with the State
of Arkansas for over 30 years in various staff training, supervisory
and management positions.
Before this he was a teacher in the Little Rock School
District. He has a B.A. degree from Philander Smith College in
Little Rock and a Master’s degree in Counseling form the University
of Central Arkansas in Conway. He is also a graduate of a program in
Management and Administration form the University of Alabama in
Birmingham.
Roy is an internationally know Motivation Speaker and
Training Consultant. He is a trainer for various Head Start programs
throughout the country and is a frequent speaker for Head Start
Pre-Service Training and Parent Involvement Conferences. Roy is also
a much sought after Motivational Speaker for Foster Parent
Conference, schools, colleges, prisons, businesses and churches,
community and national organization, youth and senior citizen groups
and for various local, state and federal government agencies. He
conducts training sessions on positive attitude, self-esteem Put
Some Gratitude In Your Attitude, Creating a More Positive Work
Environment, grief and loss, child abuse and neglect, sexual
harassment, Stress and Anger Management and other motivational and
management training seminars for groups of all ages throughout the
United States and around the world. He also does retreats and
keynote addresses for luncheons and banquets. For over 30 years Roy
has helped thousands of people to develop a more positive attitude
toward themselves, toward their jobs and toward others. He is also
learning Spanish, French and several other foreign languages.
Katie Bullard
Research Manager, AngelouEconomics (Austin, Texas)
Ms. Katie Bullard serves as Research Manager at
AngelouEconomics one of the largest independent economic development
consulting firms in the nation. She has been with AngelouEconomics
since June and is currently working on a comprehensive economic
development strategy for the metropolitan Hartford region, a
community experience dramatic decline in the young professional
population.
She has also published two articles, “Attracting Young
Professionals to Your Community: Why and How”? and “Retail Site
Selection: How Retailers Choose Your Community”. Her research has
focused on grass roots strategies designed to encourage sustainable
economic growth and livable communities.
Prior to AE, she served as the Real Estate Strategy
Analyst for Circuit City Stores, Inc, where she advised executive
management on real estate site selection & market strategies. Katie
also spent two years as the Budget Director for the City of
Charlottesville, Virginia, earning the city it’s first national
budgeting award in 5 years.
Katie received both her B.C.P. in City Planning and
M.U.E.P. in Urban & Environmental Planning form the University of
Virginia, where she was awarded the American Institute of Certified
Planners’ Outstanding Student Award.
Dr. Jeffery
Collins
Director of Center for Business and Economic Research, Sam M. Walton
College of Business, University of Arkansas (Fayetteville, Arkansas)
Jeffery Collins is the Director of the Center for
Business and Economic Research (CBER) in the Sam M. Walton College
of Business at the University of Arkansas. His
research interests include local economic development, the impact of
higher education on state economies, and the financing and structure
of healthcare.
In providing applied economic research as part of the
outreach mission of the Walton College, Collins has directed studies
for a variety of clients including: Avest Bank Group, the Arkansas
Department of Economic Development, and the Tobacco Free Coalition
of Washington and Benton Counties. Recently, Collins completed a
study in conjunction with the Milken Institute to provide a strategy
for creating high-wage, high-skill employment in the state of
Arkansas.
Collins earned a B.S. in economics from Colorado State
University and a doctorate from the University of Tennessee in
economics.
Becky Parkerson
Organizational Development Consultant, InnerWorks (Little Rock,
Arkansas)
Rebecca Parkerson is currently President of
InnerWorks, the Little Rock-based affiliate of a nationwide firm
that specializes in maximizing financial results through business
planning, people development and process efficiency.
Previously, she held a variety of positions with ALLTEL
Corporation and Systematics, Inc., including Training &
Organizational Development Department Head, Technical & Professional
Staffing Director, Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS)
Consultant, and Merger/Acquisition Project Leader.
In her role as an organizational development
consultant, Ms. Parkerson has provided services for Fortune 500,
private investment, municipal and small business clients in a
variety of areas, including: business planning; leadership and
management development; executive coaching; sales and customer
satisfaction; performance management; succession planning; strategic
staffing; team building; project management; business process
improvement; and merger/acquisition transitions.
In addition to her work with client organizations, Ms.
Parkerson has also worked with numerous individuals to help them
take charge of their careers and their lives through career
coaching, work/life balance programs, and skill development
activities.
She is a frequent presenter at association meetings,
corporate training events and conferences. Speaking engagements
include workshops for the EAST Partnership Conference and the Center
for Entrepreneurial Studies at Hendrix College.
Ms. Parkerson serves on the board of Habitat for
Humanity of Pulaski County and the Pulaski County Historical
Society. She holds a variety of other committee and volunteer
positions with organizations that are committed to enriching
Arkansas communities.
Ms. Parkerson received her B.A. degree in history from
Hendrix College. She also completed a course of study at Oxford
University in Oxford, England.
